History of the Tree Castle

 

Living up in a tree has always fascinated men. If children have always looked for this shot of adventure, it is now adults that feel the need to relive these sweet childhood memories high in the forest.

 

The tree castle, surmounted by its turret, offers a step back through Aquitaine's history. Tree Castle "Gascogne" is a reference to the historical past of this region conquered by the Vascons, coming from the Iberian Peninsula. The Gascogne region has a reputation of being inhabited by stubborn and independant people. After the Treaty of Paris in 1259, the Duchy of Aquitaine changed his name for the Duchy of Guyenne, this term referring to all the french possessions belonging to the King of England. The castle «Guyenne » is therefore also a reminder of this ancient region, named after an evolution of the word "Aquitaine" at the 12th and 13th century, and an evocation of its numerous fortified castles.

 

"Gascogne" and "Guyenne" Tree Castles in Domaine EcÔtelia invite you to rediscover life "at height", as the lookout men did during the Middle Age era around the Château de Roquetaillade, supplied with a pulley and a rope.

 

From the perched terrace at around 6 - 8 meters from the ground, you will be able to observe much of the estate and to live a timeless stay surrounded by trees. Its large living room, combined with a beautiful bathroom will astonish you at this height. This unique Tree House will not fail to move you !
